The year 2025 has been both rewarding and, at times, challenging for our club as we mark our 131st anniversary. It is gratifying to note that our membership now exceeds 500 individuals, all of whom actively support the youth in our community by encouraging their sporting and social pursuits. However, it remains a concern that the responsibility for maintaining the health of our club continues to rest on a small group of dedicated members.
We celebrate the enthusiasm shown by our members in supporting the A Reserve and Under 17 netball teams, both of which achieved outstanding premiership victories. Conversely, it was frustrating to witness our 1st Grade football team and A Grade netball team miss out in the preliminary finals despite their considerable efforts throughout the season.
I extend my sincere congratulations to all volunteers, with special recognition for the board members who consistently go above and beyond to guarantee the ongoing success of our club. I also wish to welcome the incoming board members for 2026; your contributions will be essential as we guide the future direction of the club.
One club for our community!
It is crucial to emphasize that our organisation encompasses football and netball for both juniors and seniors, including our women's football team. Sustaining support across all areas remains vital to ensuring continued success.
We should remain attentive to optimising our club’s resources, safeguarding financial stability, and making prudent investments that align with our current and future needs. Decisions made in 1982 may not be suitable for advancing our club in 2026 and beyond.
As this will be my final report as president, I wish to express my gratitude for the opportunity to serve over the past six seasons. I have been lucky enough to witness 4 premierships in my tenure.
My thanks go to the board members with whom I have worked for their unwavering dedication. To the players, coaches, volunteers, life members, and all members: please remember that the effort you invest in this club will be returned to you many times over.
All the best
Bryan Buchanan
