What started out on the brisk foggy side ended up being a great day for footy and netball at Kindra Park last Saturday as we welcomed the Narrandera Eagles. And a cracking result it ended up being with all grades in both codes emerging victorious.
Well done to all the award winners.
Next Game: Round 7 v Collingullie Glenfield Park at the Crossroads on Saturday 8 June
FOOTY
First Grade:
Hoppers started really well early, including a seven goal blast in the second quarter, to lead by 40 at the long break. The second half was a lot tighter, with the Eagles contesting much more heavily and both sides needing to work hard for their goals. The Hoppers dominated heavily in inside 50s for the match, while the Eagles managed to get maximum value for their kicks on most occasions. Joe Redfern had a day out kicking nine majors to climb up the league goal kicking ladder! Well done Joey!

The young green men carried their great form from last week into the home contest and set the day up well with a four quarter hammering of the hapless Eagles, who tried hard all day, but didn’t bother the scorers until the third term. Plenty of the boys got among the kicks with Lachie Crawford landing four along with Hughie Wakefield, while Stibby and Jake also were multiple goal kickers.

NETBALL
Awesome day for the Hopperettes on Saturday, with wins in all grades, the first time since……. we don’t remember last time this happened! To have wins in all grades was a tremendous achievement - well done to all players and coaches. The team effort and contribution by all players was amazing and all your hard work and effort was rewarded with these great wins. Thank you to all those who supported the netballers, especially our Under 17s football players. It means a lot!
A Grade:
Hoppers 59 defeated Narrandera 9
Dominating defence all over the court was the foundation of the A Grade win and coupled with some sensational accuracy with the shooters hardly missing a goal, the girls helped their season for and against very well.

Volunteers!
On a side note, we were down volunteers in the canteen on Saturday, forcing our ‘regulars’ to double up or even work all day. Our Club runs on volunteering. 100%. No volunteering, no Club. We need more volunteers for the next massive double up home game against Tigers on 16 June. If you’re free, please put your hand up and let us (call Cate) know you can help for a brief shift.
