Life Members - 2024 Inductees

At our 2024 Senior Presentation evening we inducted two new life members:
John Kew -
John has a long and illustrious career with the Green and the White, a talented player, he played over 180 first grade games, twice winning the club B & F.
A premiership player in 1970, he also was the leagues best player in that same year.
As strong as his contribution was on the field, this has been matched off it.
He established a Darwin connection which saw players make the long trip down to play for the hoppers, with John and Ron Cameron acting as guardians for these boys during there time with the club, whilst covering their living and travel costs.
John still has a presence down at Kindra Park, cleaning the sheds, picking up rubbish and checking in to make sure all is running smoothly. Never wanting recognition, just flying under the radar getting the jobs done that no one realizes need doing.
John has seen many of his children, grandchildren and extended family members don the green and white across his 79 years, he has always remained a staunch volunteer and advocate and his passion to see the club succeed is as strong as ever.
Kevin Maddox -
Kevin has volunteered over ten years as Treasurer of the CRFNC, commencing in 2011, he would have never envisaged just how long he would stay in the role. Kevin is calm, well respected, a true gentleman. A voice of reason at all Board meetings, he came in at time where the Club was facing some financial challenges He should be so proud of the condition our club was in when he handed over the role in 2023.
Kevin's son Jamie - also a life member of the Club, is how Kevin initially became involved. While at the post office one day he was casually asked “would you like to be the Treasurer”.  We are so glad that conversation took place, and as simple as that he was locked in.
Since stepping away from the Treasurer role Kevin continues to attend games and still volunteer his time, most game days you will find him in the time keepers box helping out with one or two games a week.
One of his biggest thrills occurred this year when his son Jamie and grandson Jack Rudd played in the first grade team through the year. Be proud Kev, our club is so lucky to have had your contribution over many years.
Two special men, so deserving of Life Member Status. Congratulations
